The function of the cylinder liner is to form the combustion chamber together with the cylinder head and piston, providing an enclosed space for fuel combustion and expansion, thereby generating power.
The piston converts the chemical energy of the fuel in the combustion chamber into mechanical energy, driving the crankshaft to rotate via the piston pin and connecting rod.
The piston rings (especially the first compression ring) bear the primary sealing task of the combustion chamber, preventing high-pressure gas from leaking into the crankcase. Poor sealing can lead to reduced power, increased fuel consumption, and deterioration of the engine oil.
The piston pin connects the piston to the small end of the connecting rod, transmitting the gas pressure exerted on the top of the piston to the connecting rod, which in turn drives the rotation of the crankshaft.
